Quick Release vs Thru Axle: Which 10PLUS Wheel Version Do You Need?
One of the few upgrade questions with a hard right answer: the wheel's axle has to match the frame.
Thru axle is the modern default
Most modern disc road and gravel bikes use thru axles, which hold the wheel securely and in exactly the same place every time. The common 10PLUS road/gravel configuration is 12x100mm front and 12x142mm rear.
Older bikes may use quick release. For those, 10PLUS lists QR configurations at 9x100mm front and 10x135mm rear.
Why you can't just guess
The right rim depth or freehub won't make up for the wrong axle. Confirm both the diameter and the spacing.
If your bike has a removable thru axle, measure it or check the spec. Axle length on its own won't tell you the standard.
Our buying rule
Modern disc road or gravel bike: expect 12x100 / 12x142, but check. Older disc bike: look into QR.
If you're caught between standards, hold off on the order and ask 10PLUS for the exact configuration.
Good news
The 10PLUS range covers both common standards, so an older bike isn't automatically ruled out. What matters is picking the right build before checkout.
