NBK vs S&S Bearings: What 10PLUS Actually Uses

NBK is the default bearing in most budget hubs. 10PLUS uses S&S-branded bearings across its whole range instead. Here's what that means for your wheels.

Start with the actual 10PLUS configuration

10PLUS uses S&S-branded bearings across the entire range: steel cartridges on the T Series, ceramic units on the E Series. That comes from 10PLUS's own spec for both tiers. The E Series also pairs its ceramic bearings with a 45T ratchet and a lighter build.

For context, pop the seals on most budget and mid-range hubs and you'll find NBK, a huge industrial supplier of standard steel cartridge bearings. Choosing S&S over NBK on both tiers is a genuine spec difference.

What you're really buying

The T Series is the value hub package: 36T engagement and S&S steel bearings. The E Series is the premium package: 45T engagement and S&S ceramic bearings.

That's all you need to make the call.

For everyday riding

Steel bearings are perfectly fine for normal road and gravel riding. Maintenance, contamination and adjustment matter more than a marketing label.

If you ride in the wet, regular inspection and servicing will do more for you than worrying about ceramic versus steel.

For the premium build

The E Series is aimed at riders who want lower weight and premium hardware. The 45T engagement gives quicker pickup, and the ceramic bearings bring that smooth, premium feel.

The trade-off is price.

The pick

T Series for value. E Series for the premium build.
